Every local knows the place for classy, retail therapy is Utica Square. With cute cafes to home décor fans and fashion fanatics, Utica covers all your needs! During the summer, there are free Thursday night live music shows, where families set up picnics and chairs and relax in the summer sun.

Look no further than the Gilcrease Museum for the plethora of history, arts and culture that exists locally and statewide. With one of the nation’s most comprehensive collections of artifacts and more, the Gilcrease galleries are filled with more than 10,000 works of art, as well as 11 themed gardens outdoors.

Tulsa zoo: Feast your eyes on Australian kangaroos, South American jaguars, African lions and over 80 acres of wild exhibits. Or if you’d like to take a more casual route, hop on the Safari Train to visit a variety of exhibits that include audio and visual displays, walk-through caves, interactive petting areas, sensory gardens, a recreated Massai village and more. You must see the Giraffe Experience, Chimpanzee Connection and the African penguin exhibit! It’s a great place to go with your grandkids and family plus, you get a senior discount.

Former mansion of a Tulsa oilman, the prestigious Philbrook Museum of Art is a lush, fine art museum that is considered the “preeminent art center of Tulsa.” Open year round to view its stunning collections, art exhibits and garden landscapes, the Philbrook Museum, both internally and externally, have been said to be inspired by French, English and Italian Designs. There is also a free audio tour for an extra treat during your visit.

Tulsa Air & Space Museum & Planetarium: A place where Oklahoma’s rich aerospace heritage is brought to life with vintage airplane displays, interactive exhibits and a state-of-the-art planetarium. With a 3D dome, a sit-in jet simulator, and more, the possibilities for fun and adventure are endless!

Tulsa River Parks: Now, these trails have most likely been here since you have moved to or lived in Tulsa, but with the recent and ongoing renovations, the River Parks trail is one of the most diverse recreation spots with a 26-mile trail. If you want to get more urban, visit Turkey Mountain, which has more than 300 acres of trails for hiking.

Local Shopping Havens: From Lyon’s Indian Store, which has been selling its wares to Tulsans and Route 66 travelers since 1916, to indie boutique, Dwelling Spaces, located in the Blue Dome District, which sells Oklahoma-made art pieces and apparel, including a unique “robot-themed” coffee shop. Lastly, head over to the Brookside District and visit the local stores, much of which have local Tulsa art, live music or event happenings.
