Thank you to all residents who are assisting us in keeping the dining rooms a safe place to eat. We are continuing to avoid blocking the aisles with scooters or walkers. The dining services staff has been instructed to move them to our designated parking areas to prevent any injuries. It’s important to have open aisles in case we needed to evacuate due to an emergency.
Due to suggestions submitted to the Resident Advisory Committee, we placed an additional waste basket at the south end of the Circle Lounge and we are sprucing up the entrance to the northeast lounge.

Peggy Marsh with the Alzheimer’s Association will join us this month during our Village News meeting. She will give us some tips for good “Brain Health”. I hope you’ll join us Wednesday, July 16th at 1pm in the theater.

We’ve added some extra help in our grounds department for the summer. William O’Connor and Jace Parmiter will be assisting our groundskeepers with cleaning of gutters, painting and repairing fences, pressure washing where needed, and other various outdoor activities. Gaylen Geiger, our Facilities Manager, has made lists for both gentlemen to work from. Please call the maintenance office (x3369) if you know of an area that could be a safety issue and needs immediate attention.

This month, the University Village Foundation made a contribution to the Tulsa Chapter of the American Cancer Society. We are grateful for your donations to this fund. The tithes collected during our UV church service are tax deductible and go directly into the University Village Foundation.

It’s summer, so please be sure you are drinking plenty of liquids. Every year we send residents to the hospital due to dehydration. Limit the amount of time you spend outside and take plenty of breaks if you are doing an outdoor activity that requires you to exert yourself.

University Village offers guest accommodations in Cottage 3B. That unit is furnished with two queen-sized beds, living and dining furniture, and dishes including pots, pans, can opener, coffee maker, silverware, plates, etc. Please contact the front receptionist if you are interested in reserving that unit for a loved one’s stay. The cost is $55.00 per night. We also have a clubhouse that could be reserved for any type of small group get-together. There is no cost to reserve the clubhouse, but we charge a $25.00 cleaning fee for events that in-clude food. Our front receptionist can assist you with this as well.

God Bless each of you, Vanessa Neal, Executive Director
