We are more than half-way through UV’s “Year of Wellness.” How ya doin’?

JULY is BRAIN HEALTH MONTH. Just like your body, if you stretch and exercise your brain, you can keep it fit. Here are some simple ways you can boost your brainpower to improve your life.
Mental Stimulation.
Activities that challenge your intellect can help the brain’s ability to reorganize itself and build new connections.
Nutrition.
Eating healthy can help reduce your risk of chronic age-related brain diseases like Alzheimer’s. With a balanced diet you’ll feel better physically and mentally.
Physical Activity.
Staying active is one of the best ways to feed your intellect. Every time your heart beats, 25% of the blood generated goes directly to the brain. Increasing that blood flow can trigger neuro-chemical changes that increase the production of new brain cells and decrease the risk of dementia.
Socialization.
Studies show that people who isolate themselves have a greater risk of developing memory loss. So grab your pals … talk, laugh and frolic.
Spirituality.
Prayer and meditation helps connect you with who you are and what you value in life. It can also be an effective way to fight stress. Research shows that regular spiritual practice results in an enhanced immune system, earlier discharge from hospital stays and greater longevity.
