Fall is upon us! Be sure you receive your flu shot on Friday, October 3rd in the theater from 9am to noon. It’s very important to receive a flu shot, not only to prevent the flu but to keep you from passing it on to others.
University Village is currently 94% full in the health center/skilled unit, 97% full in assisted living and 90% full in the cottages. At the time of this writing, we still have three more residents joining us in September and at least two more in October, which will bring up those percentages. Our marketing staff continues to stay busy with many tours and signing leases.
To honor the Thanksgiving Holiday, we want to find out what you are thankful for. Join us in lounge 265 on Monday, October 13th at 2pm (Craft Club meeting) to cut out Fall leaves. We will hand out these leaves to residents and staff so they can write their note of Thanksgiving on them. In the month of November, we will hang those notes on the indoor trees throughout the main building. It’s a fun project that we hope you will get involved with.
We are adding a host/hostess to our dining services staff. This person will work from 9:30am-6:00pm each day. We are currently advertising for the position and hope to have it filled soon. The host/hostess will focus their attention on the main dining room, allowing the supervisors to spend more time in our other three dining areas. This position will greet residents, inspect the dining room for set-up and cleanliness before and during the meals, handle reservations, and other related duties. We are very excited about the additional layer of attention this will bring for our residents and their guests.
Remodeling of the elevators and lowering the ceiling in the clubhouse have been completed. Our next projects include gearing up for the domestic hot water pipe replacement and remodeling the physician’s clinic. We have found contractors to handle both of these projects. If you live inside the main building, you will be receiving a letter with more details about how the water pipe replacement will affect you. We will complete the physician’s clinic remodel in two phases so that we will not have to close the clinic during construction.
We are starting to work on our 2015 budget. If you have any ideas for needed capital projects (renovations, programs, etc.), please utilize the suggestion box located on the north side of the circle lounge. I would love to hear your ideas.
God Bless each of you, Vanessa Neal, Executive Director x3652
