Thank you to those who were able to join us for the Annual Luau and Mission Meeting! We missed those of you who were unable to attend but have summarized the information below and included training info and links so you are informed and up to date. We touched briefly on the most recent information we have regarding the proposed CMS mandate that requires all long term care employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. The information is limited as the official rule has not yet been released. At University Village, we support research based facts and education and employee’s seeking knowledge to make the choice that is right for them. Of course if this rule does go into effect, we will be expected to comply. We will release information as it is received.

Each year we train all employees on recognizing pain with our residents. The care of our residents is everyone’s concern. Some of our residents are unable to express themselves and let us know when they are feeling pain, others may not even realize that pain is what they are experiencing. Below is a handout outlining different behaviors that may help guide you in how to recognize pain. As always, please report any change to a Nurse immediately.

Additionally, we want to ensure that all employees are trained on proper handwashing practices as well as how to appropriately utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The last year has taught us that this incredibly important skill is no longer limited to just our clinical employees.
