The University Village Foundation helped 42 employees by providing a Christmas Day meal complete with ham, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn, green beans, stuffing, potatoes, hot chocolate, candy canes and chocolate pie. It’s a true blessing to be able to bless others at a wonderful, but stressful, time of year. What an awesome way to show God’s love to others by helping to meet a basic need. Thank you for your generous contributions to the Foundation. Your kindness is truly appreciated.

The new tables for our dining room are here. This addition will give us extra seating for holidays and places for people to sit and meet new residents. All residents are welcome to sit in this area as there is no assigned seating.

Dining services has made some changes in their department. We brought in a new cook that has over 30 years of experience. We are changing some of the staff duties so that our baker has time to bake desserts from scratch and make a variety of fresh salads daily. We are also utilizing some new menus to bring you a better variety of entrees. We appreciate the suggestions given to Morris and he is excited to be making these changes. Our goal is to always improve on our services.

Our staff would like to offer a HUGE thank you to those that donated to the Employee Christmas Fund. Each full-time employee received $100 and part-time employees received $50 each. Your generosity helped to bless this Christmas for those that work hard to meet the needs of our residents. Our staff feels truly blessed to be serving you.

One of the capital projects we are working on for 2015 is the purchase of some new vehicles. We are working with a dealer now to obtain a new lift bus for the Assisted and Independent Living residents and a smaller lift van just for the Health Center’s use. We are also locating replacements for three of our maintenance vehicles.

We offer a computer lounge for our residents and staff. It is located in the circle lounge area. As a courtesy to others and to keep our equipment working efficiently, please do not bring any food or drinks into that lounge.

We have added an additional trip to Reasor’s every month. You can ride our bus to Reasor’s the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. We’ll provide a trip to Kohl’s, Shoe Carnival and the Dollar Tree the 3rd Friday of every month. Please see your Villager calendar for more details.

If cottagers would like a ride to the dining room for lunch, notify the front receptionist by 11:30am. The Village trolley will then make rounds picking up residents to bring them to the dining room. We will also return residents to their cottages starting at 12:30pm.
UV is now offering all exercise classes at no charge. What a great way to start off the New Year. Be kind to yourself and get moving…. try it out before you say “no.” It’s a great way to get to know other residents and you’ll enjoy the numerous benefits it brings to both your body and mind. Contact Chelsea to find out which class(es) works best for you.

God Bless each of you,

Vanessa Neal, Executive Director
